Term One...what an awesome term!

Wow we achieved a lot in term one! Here are just a few snaps showing what we have learnt.
We began the term by constructing our classroom community. We each recieved a bank account and applied for a classroom job. Miss McDonell gave us a wage each week and we learnt how to save. We even earned interest on what we put into our savings account!
We named our classroom community Golddale and even created a set of laws we must abide by. We decided Golddale needed to be a supportive learning environment full of hardworking, caring and considerate citizens.

We then wanted to see how construction played apart in our wider community. We learnt about the Waterview Connection project. We discovered the need for this project and learnt about the process and infrastructure itself. A representative from the project came and spoke with Moana and answered any questions we had.

This then lead us into construction in our Glenavon community. Students of room 2, 3 and 4 wanted to build something that would benefit our school and represent the 'kids in the Glen' we decided to construct a Cultural house. With the help of Mr Hunte we constructed an amazing infrastructure! Watch the video below to see the project unfolded...

Amongst all of this learning we had.. our Pizza in the Playground night, Duffy books come to visit and give us free, amazing books! Everyday theatre, Rotary who showed us the work they have been doing in Fiji, Kiwisports coaches teaching us softball skills...the list goes on...and it has only been term one!!!

I'm so excited for Term 2 Golddale!!! This term our theme is Belonging... I look forward to seeing all of your rested, refreshed faces tomorrow. Remember to start your term organised- pack your pencil case, homework book and a healthy lunch 😊😊

Year 8 Glenavon Challenge #TreeTops

Last week our Year 8 Glenavon students were faced with their first outdoor challenge for the year. High above the ground they climbed through courses between trees and zip lined down to the ground. For many of us this was super challenging and at first, the great heights we had to climb was daunting. I am pleased to say that every year 8 that attended the trip completed the challenging courses. Thank you to all of our families for funding this trip and to those who came along, it was an awesome day had by all!
